My favorite stories are all about surprise — like the one about the underwater forest a few miles from where I live. Or the one explaining the pink slime that shows up in our showers if we neglect our bathroom-cleaning duties. I believe we all want to hear new stories about familiar things, to change our minds about something we thought we knew, or to see the view through someone else’s eyes. We want to be surprised.
Good stories are full of surprises.
